Questions:

What is GPRS?

GPRS stands for General Packet Radio Service. It is a technology that allows data to be sent in 'packets' - this means you can be connected to the Internet at all times, but only pay for the data sent.

Do I need to download settings for GPRS?

In short: Nope. Your Virgin Mobile SIM is pre-provisioned for GPRS. As long as your phone is GPRS compatible, you can surf the Internet.

What is EDGE?

EDGE is not something you can live on. In mobile land, it stands for Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution. It may sound dramatic, but it enhances GPRS and allows you to download data packets at higher speeds.

Do I need to download settings for EDGE?

Nothing to worry about here - your Virgin Mobile SIM is pre-provisioned for EDGE. If your cellphone is not EDGE compatible, GPRS settings will downloaded instead.

If you are in an area without an EDGE network, your mobile data card will default back to GPRS.

What is 3G?

3G stands for Third Generation wireless technology. It means you can access blisteringly fast Internet, video and CD-quality music services.
